SHARLAND .II
Pool Complex
Smart Home & Home Cinema
Our Client
Sharland Cottage includes a dedicated leisure environment designed around pool, gym, changing and outdoor entertainment spaces. The project required technology that could support a relaxed lifestyle setting while remaining durable, discreet and practical within a more demanding poolside and external environment.
The client appointed Modus Vivendi to provide a reliable and easy-to-manage system across audio, control, lighting and entertainment infrastructure. The priority was to enhance the use of the pool complex and surrounding leisure areas without adding visual clutter or unnecessary operational complexity.
The Brief
The brief called for a coordinated strategy across lighting, audio, video, and control for several external zones, including the pool, gym, and changing areas. The challenge was not the individual systems themselves, but how they would perform together in an outdoor setting where durability, usability, and consistency become more critical.
For the pool area audio system, the client wanted the atmosphere to feel “like being at a club”, while avoiding large speaker boxes that would overpower the space or compromise the overall design.
Our Solution
We structured the project as a single, unified control environment rather than a collection of separate outdoor features. Control4 was used to align lighting scenes, media playback, and wider system control, allowing the poolside, gym, and changing areas to respond through clear, intuitive operation. Lighting control was designed to balance functional illumination with atmosphere, while audio and video systems were integrated to extend the experience outdoors without compromising reliability or design integrity. A K-Array system was specified for the pool area to support the required audio performance while maintaining a discreet, design-led finish within the leisure environment. Infrastructure and cabling were resolved early to support long-term usability and future flexibility.
