No Extra Space?

Limited space, uncompromised performance

If your property is limited in terms of creating additional internal or external space, such as a London apartment, there are still options available for creating a home cinema and surround sound experience. Our Director Cinema System is designed for exactly this type of scenario, where we can create a system that remains discreet while still delivering high performance. We can also provide Room Control to make automating and using the space easier, whether through the Control4 or Crestron Home platform, allowing you to operate the system with a single remote rather than multiple remotes and switches.

Basement Home Cinema

A basement can be an ideal location for a dedicated home cinema or media room, due to the reduced ambient light and greater control over room acoustics. Whether it is part of a new construction property or a basement excavation or conversion, we can design a system to suit the space. Unlike loft or attic rooms, there is typically less restriction on head height, making it easier to tier seating levels and achieve a clear line of sight from each position.

Loft Home Cinema

A loft conversion or attic room can be an excellent space for a home cinema. While these rooms require greater detail during the design stage, exceptional results are still possible. Key factors include head height, speaker positions, projector screen size, and seating layout. With a broad portfolio of products, we can design these spaces in different ways to deliver a system that exceeds expectations while responding carefully to the room’s limitations. Brands we regularly work with include Wisdom, Artcoustic, M&K, Meridian, Anthem, Steinway Lyngdorf, JVC, Sony and Screen Research.

Garage Home Cinema

Due to the size of modern cars compared with older garages, they are often a popular area to convert into a home cinema. Even when large enough to park in, many are used for storage rather than their intended purpose, with unused equipment relocated elsewhere to free up the space. A garage conversion is also usually a lower-cost option than a typical extension or loft conversion, and in some cases can be as much as a third of the cost of other home improvements. With fewer planning and building constraints, it can offer a quicker and more straightforward way to create extra space for an Executive Cinema System.

Garden Room Cinemas

If there is a lack of space within a property to accommodate a home cinema, a popular choice is to use an existing outbuilding or create a new garden room. We can also incorporate room acoustics into the design to help prevent external noise from affecting the viewing experience, while also reducing sound transfer beyond the room.

Unused Room

Perhaps you have an unused room in the house, such as a dining room that no longer serves its original purpose after the creation of an open-plan kitchen and family area, or a playroom that is no longer needed as your children have grown up. Whatever the space, we can help redesign and repurpose it into a home cinema or media room that creates a more useful family entertainment environment.

Modus Cinemas designs and installs dedicated home cinema and media rooms across London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, and Hampshire.
